Tanning
We tan hides using traditional, time-tested methods rather than modern industrial processing and chemicals. Tanning methods currently include: 1) grain-off brain tanning followed by smoke tanning or 2) Grain-on bark tanning. Each method produced a leather that functions in different ways. We work with natural bark tannins from fallen trees or brain tanning techniques to slowly transform raw hides into unique leather with a feel and appearance that mass-produced leather cannot replicate. Each hide is processed manually by hand, preserving the natural variation, texture, and individuality of the material. The result is leather rooted in ancestral craft—rugged, functional, and made to age beautifully with use.
